2 questions:
Does anyone know anything about M'Doka (sometimes spelled Mandokee) or The Buck?
I have been told that he was a brother to Chief Bone Necklace.
I found a series of military dispatches in the U.S. Serials Set that indicate that M'doka was appointed one of the headmen of the Honepatela band of the Yanktonnais under Two Bears by Brevet Brigadier-Gen. Harney. 9 of the 12 dispatches talk about M'Doka (also sometimes referring to him as Belaka/Be-do-kah) but the last 3 refer to someone called Oma'kta (The One that Kills the Omaha) -- father of White Shield.
Does anyone know if M'Doka and Oma'kta are the same person?
Thanks for any help. Joanie

On October 20, 1865 M'Doka/the Buck and Ho-hoo-non-pee/Bone Necklace signed a treaty with the U.S.

This Chief named "The Buck" was head of a small band on Yanktonai. In the Congressional Serials set, there was an error when it was put together and one of the records was misplaced under Omahokta. Those reciepts, Exhibit C, you mentioned were supplied by Chief Buck's son, Chief Wizi (Crow Creek). I found a Fort Thompson Episcopal Church record listing Chief Wizi's (William French Wizi) parents as The Buck (M'Doka) and White Butterfly (Kimimi Towin). It was from his marriage in 1911 to Hannah White Dog. Wizi and Head Chief White Ghost of Crow Creek were cousins. My records show that The Buck died in 1866.
