Lately I took a look to my photographs and I found this Grabill pic labeld as "Big Foots band". On the internet I found this photo with a more detailed caption, which said: “At the Dance: Bigfoot’s Band at grass Dance on Cheyenne River, Aug. 9, 1890. Photo and copyright 1890, by Grabill, Deadwood". So I took a closer look at the photograph and I think I found Big Foot in this shot: What do you think? Toksha ake Gregor

Yes, I think you are correct Gregor. It seems to be Big Foot / Spotted Elk.
He seems to have cut his hair short. The same as the male in the first row on the large photo, to extreme left. Do we have a reference to then a recent death of a relative who they were mourning for ?
Gregor, are you able to show us other persons on the photograph with the same high quality zoom as for Spotted Elk/Big Foot ? Perhaps in another thread. Where we could perhaps try to identify each person. Even though it could be several years long "struggle" to identify each person. Hopefully modern Lakotas would weigh in. It is enjoyable to notice how people in the Apache part of this website have been able together to identify persons in group photos of a similar kind as the photo above.

If You mean the loincloth it is undyed selvedge trade cloth. Why leave the edge there? Economical way of cutting the material is my guess. And fashion also....
