And the one in the bonnet is Rain in the Face, taken at Fort Sheridan by George Spencer in 1893 when he was at the World's Columbian Exhibition, held in Chicago. I've seen it mislabelled as Gall too and thought it was at first...

Please look at the quote below about the Moose Jaw Sioux. An author "They never Surrendered" Claims Black Moon was related to Sitting Bull but never clarified the fact there were TWO Black Moons in Canada after 1876.
Any comment please !!!!!!! as to the accuracy of the paragraph or thoughts thereon as to which Black Moon came to Moose Jaw.
In 1882, approximately 115 Sioux living in twenty-eight lodges established their permanent home on the banks of Moose Jaw Creek at The Turn, under the joint leadership of Black Bull and Black Moon, a Minnecoujou Sioux. Black Bull (Ta-Tanka-Sappa), a veteran of the Battle of the Little Big Horn, was reputed to be the half-brother of Sitting Bull. It is sometimes stated this particular Black Moon was Sitting Bull’s uncle, though it is possibly more accurate that the Black Moon that came to Moose Jaw was a Minnecoujou Sioux. Their was another Black Bull who also came to Canada who was Hunkpapa and he was a relative of Sitting Bull’s, also a Hunkpapa. But in any case, the fact they were a loose association of different bands of the Lakota and not one tribe, with one leader, would continue to be a problem for many years to come

After reading one of Dietmar's posts I headed over to to the Denver Library site and was browsing some photographs when I came across this image - from a larger photo depicting the second Sioux Land Commission in the act of attempting to bilk the Lakota out of more land. Is this Gall?
