Sometimes in the top ad banner here, you'll see a link to Lakota Foods. So I thought I'd pass along the fact that their popcorn and buffalo jerky is delicious!
Their products very affordable and are carried in the Lakota Tribal Market on Cheyenne River. Last time I was there, I brought home enough for all my friends. The company is located on the Lower Brule rez where they grow the corn and the buff.
I'm always happy to see a thriving cottage industry on the rez, and this one is a class act.
So they aren't sold there anymore? Last time I checked they were around $2 each. But then everything is skyrocketing. They ARE really good for you, but try as I might, I can't seem to develop a taste for wasna.
if you are on the rez in the summer you WILL be cornered. I just was two weeks ago at a Sundance. I arrived with one of the singers and had to take the medicine that was offered. His wife laughed at me as I closed my eyes and prayed that I would not puke!! I respect the ways but but but ...well I have a hard time with it, thats all.
