My facebook page dealing with documents pertaining to the Santee Sioux Tribe of Nebraska celebrated its 2nd year yesterday. I have over 8,000 documents uploaded to the page, free for anyone who needs them. Please visit and help yourself to anything you might find useful there. Go to the "Photos" section and click on "albums". Scroll down and you will find, currently, 210 albums full of documents. "Like" the page and you will receive notice when new content is added. Not everybody is on Facebook, an invasive site that has been cited for privacy protection violations the world over. Any chance to create and post a website outside Facebook in a more secure environment?

Not everybody is on Facebook, an invasive site that has been cited for privacy protection violations the world over. Any chance to create and post a website outside Facebook in a more secure environment? Hello! I have invested 7 years and uploaded nearly 40,000 documents to the page. It is the best free resource I have found and works the best for me. I am way too old to start over. Facebook pages are all public and you don't have to be a member to view and save the documents and view the albums there. Give it a try and let me know how it works for you. Thanks for your interest!

thank you Vicky, appreciate your reverting back. I did try it, but a pop up window always comes up "See more of Santee Sioux Genealogy on Facebook" prompting one to log in or create new account. If I click below the "not now" it goes away momentarily only to reappear again. Many of us have compelling reasons and fears to not be any part of Facebook and similar social network sites. They are invasive, keep changing their privacy rules and if one is not diligently on top and knows how to read and interpret their mailers pertaining to privacy updates, sooner than not one's personal information gets shared with commercial interests and once that has happened there is no stopping of it. Hence I steer clear. But nonetheless I wish to thank you for your obviously many year's worth of efforts and toil. This is to be highly commended and particularly so that you are sharing it.

I understand. I know folks who open an account with a made-up name and give none of their personal info. Open a new gmail or live email account to use with an alternate name. Try that?

thank you Vicky, appreciate it. I considered that a number of years ago but now I understand it is no longer a safe alternative - for they now require that you provide ID and one's cell phone to which they send a confirmation email with a code that one would have to input to activate the account. Rather than going around trying to circumvent this it is better to just stay away period. These large online entities such as Facebook have a way to recording/documenting/matching up the IP address which in itself then links everything to you no matter what. Its a mute point.

I guess for us old folks with no cell phones, it's easy. I just skip all that, have very few friends which I keep secret, NOTHING on my account I worry about anyone seeing. Nothing on my computer I wouldn't want the world to see. No online anything. So they can hack me all day long. What a waste of their time. They do keep track of what I google by posting ads for stuff they think I'm interested in, which I find hilarious. I'm sure there are other document resources out there to explore. familysearch has so many new docs posted in the records section. Whole rolls of microfilm for free and searchable. Keep hunting! Good luck!
