from time to time there are members here who are Apache and do talk. so if you have a short question ... they may be able to asnwerer it. I am NOT Apache, by the way.
I should tell you that there has been some frustration (a lot really) on behalf of the Apache community because too many people are writing books about them ... but not really taking the time to get to know the people. I think you would be welcome if you chose to go and visit the Apache reservations, in Arizona or New Mexico.
In general, the Native American community does have a lot of frustrations because there are many misrepresentations and half-truths being spread about their culture and history. It is common for the authors of books to read something in another nook - and believe it is true. But actually, when it comes to Native American history, much of what has been written is only half-true (or not true at all). So the same misinformation keeps being repeated all over the place.
Therefore, it is better to take a long time, get to know the people in person, and then put together a good book.
