As Dietmar pointed out in one of the other Barry threads, there is another backdrop, though it's associated with only a few pictures - always assuming they are actually Barry photos. The better known photo is of Big Belly, a Cheyenne. I believe this is Barry photo of Cheyenne Scouts and that could be Big Belly to the right. Not sure of the date or location, although the dress would suggest early 1880s as opposed to later. As far as I know, these are the only Barry photos of Cheyennes. White girl living with the Hidatsa. Black Bear and Moon Eye (Hidatsa?) Moon Eye, identified as 'Dakota,' but probably not if Black Bear is a Hidatsa. Unfortunately, these are the only photos I know of with this particular backdrop.

Grahame has stated earlier that the man in the group photo could be the Cheyenne Big Belly, who was portraited by D. F. Barry. Koos van Oostrom now has made this excellent comparison which proofs that this man wears the identical decorated vest in both photographs. Even the watch chain on the left can be seen.

I would say it is the same session. He wears the same Shirt, the same Choker and the same loincloth. But in the Studio he unbraided his hair.
