This can be dated to 1889*, because one of the images features Hairy Chin in an Uncle Sam costume he wore to lead the 4th of July parade and, of course, he died a few days later and it was suggested that it was a result of this. Plenty of the familiar Barry studio furniture can be seen.
The interesting thing about this is that it appears as the backdrop to SOME of the Gall photos (see amertribes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=photos&action=display&thread=1682 and because he's wearing the same clothing as in some of the other photos, it makes me think that Barry had two backdrops on the go at the same time.
*Nope. Some of these images are of members of the Sitting Bull Combination, so that's 1884, I think, unless these were taken after their return, so where that leaves the Hairy Chin photo is anybody's guess
Crow Eagle
Crow Eagle
Lone Dog
Fool Thunder
Slow White Buffalo, Crow Eagle, Iron Thunder and Fool Thunder, Lakota
Same group; different pose
Hairy Chin
An example of one of the Gall photos using this backdrop - featuring his wife and nephew. For further confusion see amertribes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=photos&action=display&thread=1682
A reversed image - Wolf Skin, Crow (or Hidatsa?) OR Wolf Skin Crow...
Wagon(?), Hidatsa(?).
Wagon(?), Hidatsa(?). Clearly not the same man as in the photo above, but he does appear in the Winter Backdrop thread, attired differently: amertribes.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=photos&action=display&thread=1684
Throwing Stick
And again - notice the rock seat from the Gall photos.
Bird, Crow
Iron Thunder
Mad Girl (sic)
Nebagaman/Nebagamon, Ojibwe(?)
And again.
Unidentified.
Undientified Crows.
Unidentified
Slow White Buffalo
