Regarding the photograph of girls at Hampton Institute: I have this other photo from Hampton, which is dated November 1878. It shows three girls at their arrival in Hampton Institute, Virginia. Carrie Anderson, Annie Dawson and Sarah Walker The two photos must not necessarily had been taken around the same time, but perhaps the same type of blankets indicate that these have been given out to the incoming pupils at the same date or time of arrival?

Dietmar, Josephine went to Hampton in October, 1881. I have also thought that they must have given the girls the same type of blankets on their arrival, but then thought it would be against their stated purpose to give them blankets at all (they were so obsessed with making them dress and look like white girls). If I knew how to post photos, I would put up more. I can't tell you how impressed I am with this forum... the knowledge that people have and share---especially the photographs. thank you elevine

Thank you elevine. In order to post pictures to this board, the photograph must be on a server. If you do not have access to server space, the easiest way is to send digital photos (.jpg or.gif) to me (SchMoehring@t-online.de) or to Diane Merkel (LBHA@cox.net). We will put the photos on our server as soon as possible. Please just say where you want them to be posted (category/thread name). If you have access to a server, it is easy to insert your photos. Simply place the photo's address within the image tags, so it looks like this except that brackets are used rather than parentheses: (img)http://www.yourdomain.com/SittingBull.jpg(/img) Best wishes Dietmar

I'm looking for info about Nancy Ann Horn? Was told by family, which they call "grandma Nancy", that she was in the Red Cloud Agency and was a Lakota Sioux woman which is now known as the Ogala tribe. I'm wanting to find as much info as I can to know about family heritage as well as finding out how I can register with the Ogala tribe? If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated!
