In this well known photograph, I have never seen but a few Identified. I will attempt to ID all of them to the best of my knowledge. Remember, I might not be completely correct on all of them, so if anyone has a different opinion or idea, I'm open to suggestions. Note: I believe the photo to have been taken around early 1929. Back: Mason Kawaykla, James Nicholas, "possibly" = Harold Kawaykla, Lawrence Mithlo, John Loco, Jason Betzines, Lot Eyelash, and Quinton Eyelash. Middle: James Kawaykla, Dorothy (Naiche) Kawaykla, Nah-thlet-la, "possibly"= Marion (Juan) Loco, Bessie (Hunlona) Gooday, Talbot Gooday. Front: "All possibly" Minnie (Nicholas) Zurega, Mary Zurega (Cripps), Evangeline Zurega (Chappabitty), and Benjamin Zurega Jr Attachments:

Good ID's, especially about Lawrence Mithlo. He was very tall man (for Apache) about 5'10" and 1/2! And one of the oldest Ft. Sill Apaches (about 70 years old) in 1929. Not sure of the identity of Eyelash... See image with Eyelash and Casper Cailis and others near building. Is he Sam Haozous, perhaps?

The cemetery doesn't look the same as it did 100 years ago. Many trees have been planted and it is well taken care of. Apache POW cemetery 2012 GT Mithlo. Attachments:

Many may have wondered why both husband and wife have the same stone and there is a reason for that. They are buried in the same grave. Attachments:

Chiricahuas were known to be tall for the rest of tribes amongst the apache or it is said that Mangas Coloradas(HE who sits there) stood 6'6' or this my uncles stand or stood 6'2' 6'3' and my grandpa was 6 ft yet many are as you say vertically challenged

Very nice photo! Over the years I have seen several, but never this one. I greatly admire and respect this elder and her life. All records show her birth year as 1823, making her 110 years old at her death in 1933, yet she herself claimed to have been born in 1821, making her 112 years old when she died. She is buried in Cache Creek Indian Cemetery, west of Apache Oklahoma. Attachments:

Here is a fact about Nah-Thlet-La's son Jason Betzines that will come as a shock to most! He DID have a son!!!! Dorothy Nah-Wats was the orphan Comanche girl raised at the Apache Indian Mission, and Jason was old enough to be her GRANDFATHER!!!! They had this son together, but were never married and I hear the child lived for only three days, best I remember this was in 1916. He is buried in the Otipoby Indian Cemetery about a mile north of the Apache Cemetery's. Dorothy herself died young and is buried there also. This child was never even named, so I call him "Jason Betzines Jr." Attachments:
