Good day,
I'm new to this thread and I was wondering if anyone had any information. I'm looking for information on my great-great-great grandmother Louise Rouleau (sometimes spelled Rouleaux). She was Lakota Sioux and her married name was Louise Twiss. I'm trying to find information on her parents...if there is any information. Any help or if someone could point me in the right direction, well that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

You perhaps already know this: Louise Rouleau (b.1871, d.>1914) married ca. 1884 to Charles Twiss (b.1858, d.>1913) [1]. Her parents must have been born between 1811-1856. Based on they were 15-60 years old when they had her. The timeframe of her parents birth as 1830-1850 is more narrow and more likely. You should contact one of the member here about her parents. The username is miller7513, whose actual name is LaDeane Miller. Miller has done an extensive study of the family trees of Lakotas. You can contact Miller either with a personal message on this website or with an e-mail at lmiller7513@comcast.net You are perhaps aware of the thread Agent Thomas Twiss where you see more information about Charles Twiss [2]. For example information about his Lakota mother. In addition Charles Twiss's Lakota mother belonged to Yellow Bear's Oglala Lakota Spleen band (Tapisleca band or more precisely Tĥaphíšleča band [3]. She was a sister to He Crow (alias Drags The Robe) [3]. When you are searching for Rouleau, it is good to be aware of that you can write the surname Rouleau in at least 3 other ways: 1 Rouleaux (as you pointed out) 2 Rullot 3 Ruelos As mentioned on a web page about a Rouleau family [4]. LaDeane Miller: Great information ! Cocobean028: You can read more about Hubert Rouleau on: 1. www.nebraskahistory.org/publish/publicat/history/full-text/1976-3-Fur_Trade.pdf (pages = 296 + 313, Note 2) 2. Francis Parkman Jr. was traveling on the plains during the summer 1846 and wrote a book about it. Francis Parkman Jr. mentions Rouleau at least 3 times in his book The Oregon Trail, Oxford World's Classics, 2008, pages 126, 135, 199. a) Parkman said that Rouleau was a trapper, who had been in Rocky Mountains and Black Hills. b) Rouleau was trapping with Moran/Morin, Saraphin and Jean Gras. c) Rouleau was an eyewitness to a crucial event in the Oglala history, when Red Cloud killed Bull Bear 1 in 1841. When the feud between Bear people and Smoke people flared up once again. Rouleau is perhaps the primary source for Parkman's description of that fight. 3. In the book "Journeys to the land of gold: emigrant diaries from the Bozeman ..., Volume 2", pages 763-764. see: books.google.is/books?id=5DoMf1Uq-tMC&pg=PA763&lpg=PA763&dq=Hubert+Ruleau&source=bl&ots=VFAJXDk6B-&sig=KbgCRKidLwdV3rjhULVSFHYs3Fo&hl=is&ei=jkVdTsSdI4qphAe-hKntAw&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=10&ved=0CF4Q6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q&f=false4. Hubert Rouleau is probably a descant from one of these French people discussed on the website about Rouleau's families in America: a) Gabriel Rouleau (1613-1673) perhaps from Tourouvre in France b) Louis Rouleau (1654-1722) from Missé in France c) Pierre Rouleau (1720-1790) and Jean-Baptiste Rouleau (1722-1794) from Bacilly in France But there is a missing link between the people mention on this website and to Hubert. You could write these people an e-mail and ask them about the missing link. You can see their e-mail at their website: pages.infinit.net/rouleau/ind2ANGL.html5. archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/GEN-FR/1995-12/08202543426. archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/NECHERRY/2003-04/1050880892Hubert Rouleau seems to have died in Nebraska in either 1887 or 1897. The difference is probably a type writing error in either source (see 5 and 6) Hreinn

If you want to post a picture on this website, then the first thing you have to consider; is the photo already on the internet or not ?If the photo is already on the internet:Step 1 Open 2 windows (or 2 tabs) of your web browser. In window A you open this website amertribes.proboards.com/index.cgiIn window B you open the web page where your photo is. Step 2 In window A, start a new thread or reply in already existence thread. Then you will get a white and empty Message window, where you put in your material (text, picture). Above the white Message window is a line with yellow smilies. This line is marked as "Add Smilies". Above the smilies is a line marked as "Add Tags" which has 2 rows of icons (small boxes). Step 3 From the line "Add Tags", find the icon "Insert picture". The icon (small box) "Insert picture" is in the second row, 4th icon from left (the first icon in second row is the "Tube" icon in red.) You don't see the name "Insert picture" unless you put the mouse cursur over it without pressing. Step 4 Press the icon "Insert picture".Then you will get a line which is written (img)(/img). Except you will see [ ] instead of ( ) around the word img. You will later put your photo between these 2 brackets. But first you have to "catch" your photo, as done in step 5-6. Step 5 Go to window B of your internet web browser, where your photo is.Step 6 Put the cursor (arrow) with your moose over your picture and right click on the mouse and choose "Copy picture URL".It is not enough to choose "Copy picture". You have to copy the URL, which is the address of the picture on the internet. An example of URL or an internet address of a picture: sirismm.si.edu/naa/baegn/gn_03678no2.jpg Step 7 Go to window A and click your cursor in the center of the text (img)(/img), that is between these 2 "img" brackets.Step 8 Paste the address (the URL) of your photo by right click on your mouse and choose Paste. Then you will see how (img)(/img) changes into (img)sirismm.si.edu/naa/baegn/gn_03678no2.jpg(/img) Then you have finished to insert a photo. You can see if it is okay or not by Preview. If the photo is NOT on the internet:Then you have to put your picture on the internet (upload it). The member Frank suggested once to upload pictures on the website www.aijaa.comThis is a website for everyone for everything. Without any doubt, there are other websites available to upload photos. When you have put your picture on the internet, then you will proceed through the steps above. Good luck ! Hreinn

I am very interested in your remark about Hubert Rouleau being the father of Sallie Shell. I have heard this before but I have not been able to find a primary source to support it. Do you have one?
I am the coordinator of Spanggenealogy quoted elsewhere in this forum and am currently assisting the No. Cheyenne's in documenting their family trees.
