I am looking for family members of a Blood named 'Charcoal"
I think he was a nephew of Red Crow.
I believe his father was a chief named "Rainy...."
He had a brother named Left Hand who became chief after his father passed away.
I would like to talk to descendants of Charcoal or any family members on the # 148 Blood reserve in southern Alberta.
If anyone else knows of this family, I'd enjoy talking with you. Mourningdove

Charcoal's father was Red Plume. he was not a relative to Red Crow but was in his band...Fish Eathers band. His brother Left Hand became became chief of his own family band..a subband within the Fish Eathers band. More info can be read in "Charcoal's World by Hugh Dempsey. Henri

Welcome morningdove, the Saskatchewan cultural and heritage collections have a photo of Charcoal: scaa.sk.ca/ourlegacy/permalink/28420Charcoal (Si'-okskitsis) was renowned for his strength and cunning as a warrior. He killed his wife's lover, fired at an Indian agent and a NWMP, and later killed a NWMP sergeant and was executed in 1897.

Thank you for your replies!
I have read all of Hugh Dempsey's books, my first being the one about Charcoal. I'm still trying to learn more about his family.
Charcoal's story still bothers me ~ Native beliefs & society's laws getting very confused caused Charcoal to take all the steps he did following Medicine Pipe's murder.
A friend told me they believe that some of the family members are still on Blood Reserve #148 jn souther western Alberta.
I've been to the ssite where I was told Charcoal was buried after some, hmmm, interference by a catholic priest.
I know a bit about the Blood reserve, & have visited 3 times, but it is hard to get info, some reluctence, I think. Do you know any of the people on this reservation. I also met Kyle Blood on my last visit.
I wonder how I mixed up Red Plume & Rainy Chief.
I'm interested in the Horn Society too & many other things.
