Does anyone have information about a band called the Bad Arrows, supposedly part of the Sihasapa Lakota?
Mallery (1893) claims the Bad Arrow band at least existed in the late 1820's; they are mentioned in quite a few winter-counts for the year 1829/1830.
Thank you,
Carlo

Thank you, Kingsley, fascinating details!
It's interesting to note that in 1829 warriors from the Sihasapa Bad Arrows murdered a Yanktonai man as retribution for killing a friendly Crow man. Quite remarkable punishment, considering the victim belonged to an enemy tribe and the perpetrator was a Dakota, but evidently the Crow was a good friend of these Sihasapa.
