I have been wondering if anyone has access to pre-1885 census rolls from the Chiricahua Prisoners of War (Fort Marion/Fort Pickens, Mount Vernon Barracks, Fort Sill) as well as from Fort Apache, San Carlos, and Camp Verde reservations.
All I have found are those available at www. footnote.com.
Actually, those from the 1870s and early to mid 1880s would be much more interesting.
I highly appreciate any help, thanks.

I am not aware of any census rolls, but I did once read that all bands living at San Carlos in 1880 were recorded and counted, so there must be a document somewhere...

The reservation residents for sure were registered, starting at least as early as the 1870s. In "Camp Reno; Outpost in Apacheria" the resp. band size of seven or eight significant Dilzhe'e (Tonto Apache) and Yavapai chiefs was mentioned (including Delshay, Ashcavotil, Charley Pan, Big Rump and a couple others).
When Geronimo, Chato, Chihuahua and others started to settle at San Carlos in the 1880s, their people were counted as well and their names must have been registered.
I may contact the National Archives or Smithsonian Institution about that and let you know if they're available...
