For about a century Comanches,"barbarians from the north"descended over poor Old Mexico,bringing a terrifyng cycle of violence and death. Comanche bands pushed far south and they attacked ten Mexican states. In 1852,they hit che city of Tepic,in Jalisco (T.Kavanagh -Comanche political history,Ralph Smith's article-Comanche sun over Mexico) and at least once,they struck the city of Queretaro,135 miles north of Mexico City (Pekka Hamalainen-Comanche empire). Someone Knows deeper Comanche penetrations in central Mexico? I read in Fehrenbach book that a Kiowa war perty was on a fantastic trip which carried it to the border of Guatemala and Yucatan and in "the Indians of Texas",W.Newcomb wrote they reached.perhaps Brithis Honduras,where became acquainted with monkeys,but I didn't find any reference.

Maruawe;
In later years, Mowway told H. ten Kate that he once went so far south into Mexico that he saw the /kwasi taivo/ the 'men with tails' in the trees. See:
ten Kate 1885 Notes ethnographiques sur les Comanches. Revue d'Ethnography 4:120-136.

Yes, it is possible. Likely?
My manuscript of Joe A's book has been accepted by U. Nebraska press. But they want some chnages to the introduction, and I just haven't had time to get to them.

The info that the Comanches saw monkeys is in no way a proof that they reached as far as Honduras, Guatemala or Yucatan. There are a few species of monkeys whose habitat is in Mexico.
It has been claimed that its habitat range from Tamaulipas in the northeast and Jalisco in the west south.
Also the state of Jalisco was attacked by the Comanche raiders. In those two states the Numunuu could see monkeys, which is more possible than imagine that a Comanche war party reached as far as Honduras.
