I was not sure where to place this question. I know the Mayans most likely were aware of and probably attached religious significance to Mars. I know that North American Indians revered the Moon, Venus, and the Sun. What about Mars?

Were there ever inter tribal conflicts amongst Mexico’s Native American groups (besides the Mayans and Aztecs)? I am especially interested in such conflicts that happened AFTER the Spanish Colonial period. Brian Ghilliotti

Not sure if this is the place to post this link, as it involved Native Americans vs the Mexican Army: jackshuster.blogspot.com/2012/04/geronimo-in-mexico-battle-of-white-hill.htmlHere are my standard questions: 1) Has a tactical reconstruction / study of the battle been undertaken? 2) Can one visit the location (if it has been located), or has it been developed or sold as private land? 3) What other sources describe this engagement (English or Spanish)? From the article link, it appears as if this was a fairly large scale battle, atleast as what was typical in the southwest. This event also leads to another question. To what extent did the Mexican military officially chronicle their campaigns against the Apaches? From reading Geronimo's autobiography and other references, it appears as if the larger clashes took place against the Mexicans. Yet 99% of the history I have seen only focuses on the campaigns of the US Cavalry. At best, Mexican engagements are given a sentence or two. So, are there any Spanish studies covering the Apache wars on the Mexican side of the border? Brian Ghilliotti

My name is Brian Ghilliotti. I am here to explore Prehistoric American and Native American history. I am also interested in military history. I enjoy hiking and fish keeping. I also enjoy traveling when I have the time. One of the more interesting places I have visited is this site called "America's Stonehenge" in North Salem, New Hampshire.

Hello: I am curious to know if a tactical study has been done on the Battle of Crowheart Buttes? This was a four day battle between the Shoshones and Bannocks on one side fighting against the Crows. The conflict erupted after sloppy treaty drafting gave theses Native American groups ownership over the same lands (as it was in the right of military authorities to 'give' this land to either group in the first place)! Given that this engagement lasted at least four days, it must have been a pretty large scale battle. I would not know, but it must have one of the largest Plains battles -either native vs cavalry OR native vs native- in the 19th century. Which makes me wonder if any tactical reconstruction of this four day battle has ever been done. I was also wondering if one could visit this battleground, much like one can visit other Plains battlefields? I would imagine that if this battlefield was preserved, it would have been dine under tribal authority. Or has the battlefield been overtaken by developers and ranchers? According to the link below, I presume at least one part of the battlefield has been preserved, but as a non Native American I cannot visit it. wondersofwyoming.com/crowheart-butte/Regards, Brian Ghilliotti I will be asking similar questions about other inter-tribal battles in the future.
