I wouldnt think so either of hand. thinking more of cheyenne river Ironhawk and the names horse shoe come to mind....yes little seems to be oglala but Amos is listed on BIA family tree form as Cheyenne River and the mother of wallace is lizzie post married to Amos Little, Northern Cheyenne connection.
Never seen granpa wallace connected to another womans name till the other day. very interesting. the thing is were he lived and were my father lives now is mostly hunkpapaya decendent names on the allotment. Jumping Bull imparticular. just search and trying to round things out....
There is a story in the family how "Little" came about; One of our grandpas was on a prison boat headed to Ft. Randall prison and him and some others jumped over board swam to shor and came west. first group of Lakota they came into was the Sicangu; old couple there named "little" just lost a son. he stayed with them for a year and helped them and eventually took their name. Prior to this it was Ironhawk/horseshoe yet when i look for info on this it seems to go cold....If you or anyone on this board has anythoughts on this and some leads I sure will appreciate it.

Mildred Firethunder Cuny is my paternal grandmother. I don't know of any other children by Wallace Little Sr. other than 4 with Wilhemina Colhoff (my fathers half brothers and sister) and then he married Gramma Millie had many more children including Wallace Little Jr. or "Hook" has we call him. I am assuming that this marriage took place about 1920. Is there a record of this/date?
Is there land records for Grandpa Wallace at Standing Rock? Amos? any known Little/Ironhawk connection that you know of?
Appreciate it Ladonna....love the sitting bull geneology there are so many names who have land allotment locally around my home. They are no longer around so i assume many left back to Standing Rock. I want to make a map of the sitting bull geneology allotments, if i ever get that done I will put it on here. unless you know of an existing one.
thanks again.

I think we heal with great discussion like this. the grass dancer at the Obama visit is just something i put together myself, don't what it was about but it reminded my of the history. Had it been planned then I could see that there was/is no effort at healing. thanks for the feedback...

Standing Holy 1st Spouse: Sunkgkleska-Urban Spotted Horse 2nd Spouse: John Black Wolf b.1872 3rd Spouse: Wallace Little Read more: amertribes.proboards.com/thread/167/sitting-bull?page=5#ixzz3CskUnYDJLadonna I am Curious about this portion of the genealogy; did wallace little and standing holy have any children? Curious because I have a grand father named Wallace Little B. 1901, Died 1984. My great grandfather is named Amos Little and in at least one article he is listed as a Hunkpapaya and given the name Iron hawk.....not certain of his birth, have it ranging from 1859 to 1886.....niether Amos or Wallace had allotment here on Pine Ridge Reservation. Would you have any insight on this matter.

I found it interesting that Red Tomahawk and his son were placed in a position of honor when visiting dignitaries were about.....Red Tomahawk especially early on and that recently during the President Obama visit to Cannonball N.D. there was a young man/boy grass dancing and taking a "selfie" with the visiting dignitaries, was this young man related to the Red Tomahawks of historical significance and if so was this by design or pure coincidence? Did you know of this? Respectfully.

Hello, my apologies, I am from Oglala. I have seen on the website the monument listed, (not for the assassination of sitting bull but to those who killed him)but no info....so I asked. If don't exist I am fine with that, I think that is best. As far as mentioning Sitting Bull family members i was speaking in general.....
I heard for the first time about 2 months ago that the decendents of the police who killed sitting bull hold a dance in their honor. Glad to hear this may not be true.
Thanks.

White Clay district is now known as Oglala District on the Pine Ridge Indian Resevation. Red Shirt Village is located within it at its north western edge. Yet the southern part extends to about 9 miles north of the town of Pine Ridge. Pretty extensive, close to 50 miles long. My father currently resided on a piece of land that was originally allotted to mercy jumping bull, other names surrounding the allotment are Weasel Bear, Running Hawk, Rock Mountain, Austin Name Him (son of Rock Mountain and Maka Papta), Black Elk, to name a few.......

By any chance is there any relationship based on the research done between Pete Catches The Enemy Sr. His Father Paul Catches The Enemy and Red Horse Woman (Galls Daughter), did Red Horse Woman have children with a man named Big Ribs? Decendents living on Pine Ridge.

I see on the standing rock tourism web site there is listed a monument to the people who assassinated sitting bull? Is there one, if so how does that effect "peace and healing"? Does the family of sitting bull condone this? I also heard recently that the decedents of those who assassinated sitting bull hold a sundance in honor of the murder? Ladonna can you shed some light on this?
