I used to wonder why grandpa had owl feathers on his wapaha. One day I reading about the different bands in Pass Creek and learned about the owl feathered headless band. Wanbliho

Regarding the photo of Red Shirt and his woman. This photo is in an album in our family and there wasn't a name on it. Since one of my g-grandmothers was listed with one of the Red Shirt families this could be correct. We have always wondered who they.

I am unable to access this site with that address. Do you think they changed their address?

How can we access the photos? Have they been taken off this site?

It was wonderful to see the film. Thank you for the link. You could see Grandpa Black Horn riding one of the horses also.

Carlo, I am a granddaughter of George Iron Cloud and Mattie Bad Wound, it wasn't Martha, d/o Noah and Mary. She was a d/o Black Horn/Bad Wound and Bessie Burning Breast. Their picture is on the Rosebud/Sicangu section under Black Horn. They had one son, my father, Seth (Cy) Iron Cloud. He was raised by grandpa and grandma Black Horn after his mother passed away in 1923. Also, the Iron Clouds in Standing Rock are children of Peter Iron Cloud the man you are researching.

Dietmar, I don't think I mentioned that Grandpa Black Horn/Bad Wound was a brother of Robert Bad Wound, Noah Bad Wound and Nellie Bad Wound. Wanbliho

Rosie Tree Top didn't have any children. When he was getting old "Young Bad Wound" took her to the Lessert family and asked if they would keep her as she didn't have any relativies. She is buried at Inestimable Gift Cemetery in Allen, SD.

I forgot to say that my other great-grandfather, Peter Iron Cloud, is in the photos with the cars. In one he is standing next to Iron Tail and in the other he is the man with the feather in his hair in the top right. Two of his sons married grandpa Black Horns only two children, Emily and Stella. Thanks again. Wanbliho

Thank you for posting these photos of my great-grandfather. I am always looking for photos of him and have a few. Where did you find most of these? The beaded hands on his shirt are my father's at the age of two. That is when he and Bessie's youngest daughter died. My father was an only child. I think grandpa needs to be moved to the Lakota's tho. However, Bessie was a Sicangu, her maiden name was Burning Breast/One Feather and she was the older sister of Ben Reifel's mother. Grandpa was a son of Young Bad Wound. You have a picture of hima dn Red Tree Top posted under the Bad Wound topic. Thank you so much for the gift! Wanbliho

Hi Jeanann, I also would love to see a photo of Sophie. Did she and John have many children? Was one of them Julia?
