Hello ...
My name is Arthur Short Bull. I am a new member and have many photographs that I received last summer when my mother passed away.
Most of the photographs are in very bad condition, but wondered if I could get some assistance in identifying some of them.
I have a couple of portraits that I have also posted here.
Thanks

Welcome Arthur,
thanks for posting the photographs. It looks as if those men in the pictures were part of a Wild West Show, probably Buffalo Bill´s. If you don´t mind I will put the photos on our server to make them show in the thread.
Best wishes
Dietmar

The images should be visible for all now.
Please help to identify them. I´m sure I´ve seen the two men in the second photo in this thread before, but can´t remember right now...
Arthur, I remember our member Ephriam Dickson has researched about your ancestor Grant Short Bull, who was the brother of the famous He Dog. There should be somewhere photographs of both men at our site as well.

Yes, I have done a lot of research in the past nine months and have been successful finding information from my mother's side (Brave, Good Soldier), but all the photographs my mother passed on to me were from her family, not my father. He was Kerman Short Bull, but was killed in 1959 and very little survived from his side (Charley Short Bull, Grant Short Bull) But Mr. Dickson's research has been invaluable to me as far as information is concerned. Still looking for a really good Grant Short Bull photograph ... wish he had been photographed as much as his brother, He Dog ...

Hello there old friend, I too am looking for pictures. I am looking for a photo of great grandmother Sophie Mousseau/Monroe, who's dad was Magliore Alexis Mousseau and Ellen the Yellow Woman. She had 4 or 5 children from a white man in Wyoming named John "Posey" Ryan and when she was banished back to Pine Ridge by John's new "woman" she met my great grandfather John Monroe, he also served in the Wild West Shows. I have lots of old pictures of relatives, Monroe, Robideau, Janis, Siers, just have to make time to share them here. My mother was Fontaine Janis Monroe, and I was elated to see pictures of her and her family who all attended Holy Rosary Mission school from Kindergarten to the 10th grade. Go to thttp://www.marquette.edu/library/archives/earchives.shtmlo or if this link does not respond just do a search of univeristy of marquette digital archives Pine Ridge and Rosebud schools are listed on this site.
I still live in Austin Texas, been here for 10 years now, don't miss the snow in Nebraska or South Dakota. Jean Monroe

Hi Jeanann, I also would love to see a photo of Sophie. Did she and John have many children? Was one of them Julia?

Any identifications of the three men yet? The man in the middle resembles my great grandfather John Monroe, who served in the Wild West Shows, I believe he sailed on the "Persian Monarch" from New York to England. I am still looking for a photo of his wife Sophie Mousseau/Ryan-she had 5 children with this white man, then she was forced back to Pine Ridge without her children, and ended up marrying John Monroe, a northern Cheyenne and had Lena, William (my grandfather), Julia, Zoe, Aloysius. So many different stories on John Monroe, that his went by Long Time Sleeps, took the last name Monroe from a lady in Enland.
