Sorry, Dietmar -- I see a different nose and mouth on the two images to the right in the montage. Of course, this would just be my "vote" (if we get a vote!)
The photo above in this thread from Graham of "Bald Eagle" (his comment "Hmmm..."), I believe is "Bald Eagle" (whoever he was), not Roaster. I couldn't find bio information quickly on "Bald Eagle", a Brule, other than the 1872 photos.

hi Dietmar I meant to join this forum for several years, but never got around to actually register. Well, better late than never, right ? On the subject of whom you name as "Roast" and also named variably "Iron Bull" and here on the last image "Bald Eagle" (your caption, whereas on image it says Iron Bull) I cannot avoid stating that this individual has an uncanny resemblance to Sitting Bull of the Hunkpapa band. Although Sitting Bull's features on the documented photographs appear more defined, whereas this one has somewhat a fuller face. I think the captions on the above image appear to be wrong - the second person from the left certainly is not Spotted Tail. This very image is, by the way, for sale at Cowan's on their 12th June 2015 auction. Are you sure that this is an 1870's image ? It does look similar to the famous other photograph in which Red Cloud, Spotted Tail and "good" Sitting Bull are depicted, but the background and quality is different.

I think this was one of the deleted images, because that's Poor Dog to his left (our right, of course), but who are the others and what's the occasion?

The problem with this picture is, I got a better quality scan shared in a private conversation some years ago, so I hesitate to post it without consent.
The photograph was most likely taken at Rosebud around 1888 or 1889, when L. F. Spencer was Indian agent there.
It took me some years to find out the names of the men in the first row, but now I´m sure the identifications are (from left to right):
Big Turkey (aka Peter Big Turkey), Sky Bull, Roast, Poor Dog, unidentified

That late? I assumed early 80s. That's interesting. Thanks.
