On the LBH board, Charlie and Wolfgang posted some beautiful photographs of American Horse, the Northern Cheyenne: From SIRIS Two Moons and American Horse, delegates to Washington (1880s) A 1890s portrait by E. Burbank

Thanks, but all the credit goes to Charlie and Wolfgang...I just stored them on my HD at the time and now re-posted. I think I have another image of American Horse - one in which he's coming out from a tipi, but can't find it right now...

Interesting that he seems to be wearing the same army jacket in Huffman's photo that he wears in Sharp's. American Horse photogaphed at Lame Deer by Huffman, sometime in the 1890s.

...and here is American Horse in the same shirt smoking a pipe: American Horse after 1874 was one of the Northern Suhtai Council Chiefs. He lead his following to join the big Northern Lakota village in early summer 1876 and was present at the Battles of Rosebud and Little Bighorn. He was the only Cheyenne Council Chief who actually took part in the fighting against the soldiers.
