I've recently bought a reprint copy of the above book - legit from Amazon - but the whole thing seems to be photocopied and bound with a new cover, so I can't make out much detail in the photos - or any at all, in some cases.
I would be grateful if anyone who has the book could please post scans of the following pictures, because the only one I'm familiar with, I think, is the first:
Pretty Eagle and Shoshoni friend – Barry Yankton Charlie (in bonnet) Old Crow (in bonnet) Baptiste Garnier in warbonnet Three young Sioux braves An Indian courier – Barry Old Crow – a friendly An Indian Runner – Barry Wah-ka-pamane (Annuity) of Spirit Lake Massacre fame (though from what I can make out, he looks Teton or Yanktonai)
If anyone can - thanks!

Grahame, can you confirm this?

Hi Grahame, is this scan better than the pictures in your book? Wah-Ka-Pamane or Annuity of Spirit Lake fame I wonder who this man is. Perhaps one of the Fool Soldiers? But I never heard the name before.

Much better. I only have high contrast photocopies - completely black and white with no real detail at all. Thanks to both of you. Is this a touched up photo, or a picture based on a photo?

Okay, give me a little bit time and I´ll scan the other photos from the DeBarthe book and send them to you.
I think it´s a touched up photo above.

Thanks, Dietmar. When I ordered the book, there was no mention that it would be based on a photocopy. Second time that's happened; I got a copy of Vestal's New Indian History and it's the same - it's not even based on a photocopy of a clean copy; on some pages ypu can clearly see some annotation!

Hi Grahame
I bought the Vestal book in a reprint from Amazon as well. I'm pleased to have it, but I will avoid those type of reprints in the future if I can.
I thought that the Grouard book was quite easy to get with having to get a reprint.

Here are some of the scans Grahame asked for: An Indian runner An Indian courier Three young Sioux braves Are there any identifications for the men in the above photos from other sources? P.S.: I´ll post the other scans from the De Barthe book in different threads.

The man in the first scan posted by Dietmar in his last message is the "Crow Hot Dancer" of this Goff photograph (first posted in the "Crow photographs- Individuals" thread):

From the picture: Three young sioux brave; that man whit two feathers remembers me a little bit like one of the pictures who should be Crazy Horse.
