Hi all, extraordinarily late to the game here but I recently watched an episode of PBS History Detectives that mentions a movie ledger that contained the name Two Lance. I am curious of the connection. I believe they interviewed a descendant carrying the surname Yellow Hair. can anyone shed some light on this?

I am trying to pull some data together on the Two Kettle (Oohenompa) division of the Lakota and am asking for help with some family histories. I want to get information on Four Bears, a leading chief of the Two Kettles from the later 1830s through til 1856 or later. Hdaughter of Two Lanis son was Joseph Four Bears, a leader at Cheyenne River Agency in the late 1800s.
Did he marry a daughter of Two Lance (c. 1760s-1833)? and so was a brother-in-law to Eagle Woman / Matilda Galpin, Two Lance II, White Hawk and others?
Many thanks!

I'm a genealogist and family historian and have been working on my family tree using DNA as help to help sort out some of our lost lines. I believe White Hawk and Joseph DeSmet Lewis 1805-1889 are the same person. The is a clear connection between the descendants of Joseph Four Bears, Two Lance, Joseph Black Spotted Horse and Mary She Walks Forward who married William Hodgkiss and then later to Yellow Man in Crow Creek. Joseph DeSmet Lewis we know had a second with that liked in Pine Ridge when he was traveling with Father DeSmet as a interpreter and so was Ms. Galpin who said White Hawk was her brother. Their is also a written account of a Women called Black Spotted Horse Women show up in Lower Brule and telling John Lewis DeSmet that she was his sister and that they share Joseph DeSmet Lewis as a Father. What I have been trying to get is a male to male descendant of White Hawks line to do a Y-DNA test to see if it matches our family male descendants of Martin Charger and John Desmet. I have done a Y-DNA test of both and they are European and are a perfect match to each other. Martin Charger did say while in Washington that Joseph Four Bears was his brother I believe he meant half brother.

I may be late to this party, but figure I will toss out some inquiries. My gr-gr-grandmother is Howapelutewin (Red Woman? Red Fin?). She was married to Joseph Goudreau. They had 4 children, including my gr grandfather, Sam Goudreau. One of the daughters was Annie Goudreau, who married had been married two of Major McLaughlin's sons. In any event, I have seen her listed as the niece of Alma Galpin Parkin, and grand daughter of Matilda Parkin - Eagle Woman. (I think/hope I have the Galpin/Parkin names correct.) In any event, based on lineage, somehow Howapelutewin would be related to Alma Parkin (would have to be sisters, if Alma is Annie's aunt) and either the daughter of Two Lance or Eagle Woman. Any thoughts anyone? Hello, I am a recent member and just came across your post. My great grandmother is Howapelutewin. I am writing a book of family history and I have her story. If you would care to contact me, I will share what I know. rwsmee@msn.com
