Thank you Californian.
Long Bear should be Last Horse (same man as further below). Eagle Hand is a typo by the auctioner, it´s Eagle Head. I am not sure if Prairie Dog is a woman.

Again some corrections:
- White Face is rather Flat Iron, - Eagle Eye is Hard Heart - John Slow Bear is either the same man identified as Felix Slow Bear by photographer Herman Heyn in another portrait, or he is a twin

thanks Dietmar, this is great help - hopefully with everybody's input the ones that have not been confirmed can be identified and more so, also the ones that still remain nameless as of yet. I know I am pushing it a bit, do we know the tribal and band affiliations of those that have been identified ? From generic information obtained thus far it seems that most, if not all Col. Cummins Indian Congress performers were primarily recruited at Pine Ridge

I agree, Californian. In the majority Lakota performers of Wild West shows came from Pine Ridge, although there are some exceptions, like in 1894, 1895 and 1896, when groups of men and women from Rosebud toured the U.S.

I searched the US Sencus 1901-1907 for Kills Twice and did not find this name. In my collection I found the photo of High White Man. A comparison with the photos of Kills Twice and my High White Man showed me that it is the same person. In the 1901 Sencus I found a Grant High White Man, 24 years old. I believe that Kills Twice is actually Grant High White Man and that the name Kills Twice is a show name. My photo of High White Man is labeled "High White Man, Pine Ridge Agency, S.D.". I think it came from an e-bay auction. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

thank you Wolfgang, that good information. I would suggest to also compare these portraits with the Ruth Kasebier photographs Buffalo Bill Circus performers that date to about 5 years earlier than this series
