Does anyone have any knowledge about this tipi? I have come across this tipi every once in a while on line and remember seeing it in the book Mystic warriors of the plains but really cannot find information on it. I believe it is somewhere in Germany? Can anyone help shed light on this buffalo hide tipi cover? (no pun intended)

Hau kola Pawnee and everyone else, here is my short message about Old Tipi cover in Germany. In the 1990s, I did a lecture on this object and am currently revising it and translating it into English. When I'm done, I'll post it here on American Tribes. Still a little patience. Toksa ake pilamaya yelo. Gerhard from Germany

Hallo Gerhard,
just in the last few days I stumbled upon a postcard, that was "buried" some time under a staple of papers on my desk, that shows the very exact picture of the tipi cover, as attached and shown by pawnee. I recall that this was something that a friend gave me some years ago. Anyway, the tipi cover is in the Museum für Völkerkunde in Berlin, Germany and a description on the postcard says : Tent cover of the Sioux Indians made of Bison leathter. Collection Köhler, before 1846. I´m curious to learn more on the subject from you, also I´m able to read anything in German that you may want to share, as I´m living in Germany as well. Grüße aus Bayern, best from Bavaria and welcome to the forum chicheman

Hau kola
What lasts long is finally coming true. It took a little longer until I did the revision and the translation. Hope the effort has paid off. Didn't put my manuscript here, but in the chapter - Recommended Links - Board - Museums and Special Collections. I think it's better accommodated here.
Have fun browsing.
