I was given this photo by an aunt and would like some help identifying the people in it. I think Chief Milk is the man sitting bottom Left with a child in front of him, but don't know the rest. Chief Milk2.pdf (443.71 KB)

Yes, I can see it and it is Milk. Don't know about the others, though, unless that's his son, Daniel Milk, in the bonnet.

Thank you Grahamew. After doing some research, that's what I was wonder as well. Don't know, but has some resemblance to a picture of him on another thread on this site. I also found they had 12 children with the oldest 4 being boys, so perhaps the younger men are their sons.

Great photo, thanks for sharing it.
I agree with Grahame about Chief Milk and his son Daniel. Others also look familiar. What about the man in the sergeant's jacket? He resembles Rain Water in my opinion.
Rain Water was a member of Swift Bear´s Camp in 1885. This camp and Milk´s Camp were settling then close together in the most south-eastern part of South Dakota and eventually joined later at Ponca Creek.
Richard Rain Water was listed as a private in Rosebud's Indian Police force in 1893.

Yes, I agree with Grahame about Milk. The man on the left has so much resemblance to Milk that he must be Milk's father or Milk's brother.
