Hello I'm researching the origins of the names of three towns on Pine Ridge Rez, Kyle, Allen, and Manderson. I have found some vague to moderate info on James H. Kyle, senator from South Dakota 1891-1901 sat on committees of indian affairs and indian depredations. started labor day. sources were Luther Standing Bear My People the Sioux pg 234 and congressional reports from when he died Found more on Charles W. 'Major" Allen from Wo'wakita Emily Lewis 1980 but nothing on Manderson though i remember reading somewhere it was named after an Army officer?
any info would be appreciated.

Another great source on Charles W. Allen is his autobiography: Richard E. Jensen (ed.) From Fort Laramie to Wounded Knee: In the West That Was (Lincoln: University of Nebraska Press, 1997).

Thanks for the info especially the Allen autobiography. If that's the Manderson he follow's same profile as James H Kyle.
