Black Moon led his people down to Fort Peck and camped with others who returned from Canada.
1880 At Poplar Agency Gall did not surrender as he had promised Allison, but raise a tipi in the Missouri Bottoms beneath the bench, which the agency stood.
In two weeks his 38 lodges had grown to 73 lodges among them were Black Moon and Little knife. Other joined that slipped away from Fort Keogh.
Major Ilges convened a council of Chief’s and headsmen to hear Crow Kings story about the fort. Attended included Gall, Black Moon and Crow.
May 28/29 1881, Steamer deposited 1,149 Lakota at the military post at Standing Rock now named Fort Yates. Prominent leaders including Black Moon, Gall, Crow King, Low Dog and Fools Heart.
Black Moon and Younger Black moon fought in the Little Big Horn
Younger Black Moon was killed in the Battle
Another son took Black Moon place as Chief Black Moon by the 1885 census on Standing Rock.
One son became a spiritual leader of the Sun Dance
One of Black Moon’s daughters married in Fort Peck a “Red Boy”.
One of Black Moon daughters married an Elk Nation on Standing Rock
Black Moon returned from Canada refused to surrender and was arrested after his return at Fort Peck with Gall and others
Black Moon and other were forced marches to Fort Berford as prisoners of war
Black Moon shipped by the Standing Rock by river boat
Black Moon was given an allotment in the Rock Creek District
Black Moon died in 1888 right after his friend and relative Four Horns
