Hi, I am trying to find any information about Medicine Bear's family. I have not been able to find any information on his parents or his wife, besides his wife's name (Her Bad Crane). I know that their son, Youngman was married to Touches the Clouds daughter, Secana and they had a daughter, Dora Youngman. Dora Youngman married James Yellow Owl and they are my husband's great grandparents. I have hit a wall concerning both Medicine Bear and Her Bad Crane (1843). Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, D. Shyface

NMAI-FALL-2003 Skecana Little Bighorn.pdf (614.63 KB) Hi, I am trying to find any information about Medicine Bear's family. I know that their son, Youngman was married to Touches the Clouds daughter, Secana and they had a daughter, Dora Youngman. Thanks, D. Shyface Hello D. Shyface, Sorry I'm just seeing this now. I am a relative and maybe can help you. Skecana is my great-great grandmother and was married to Koshka (Youngman). She is the daughter of Medicine Bear. Her daughter Dora Youngman (Yellow Owl) is my great-grandfather's sister Julius Youngman. Julius Youngman was a judge on Fort Peck like his grandfather Medicine Bear, who was a founder of the Fort Peck Reservation. I've been researching Skecana's life and lineage. She was at Little Bighorn with her family as a young girl. Julius's son (my grandfather) died when my mother was young and she was raised in foster care. It has been my passion to find out who our family is, being raised with it being such a mystery. When I found out what my family endured and how I'd ended up so displaced I was in absolute awe of their perseverance. I owe my own existence to their resilience and hope my own journey can exist as a humble homage to their spirit.
