Walksindreams: Thanks for your reply ! I'll look into it. Yes these markers go back many generations. We have examples where you can use mtDNA and Y-DNA to discriminate between people of Scandinavian vs. Celtic origin about 1000 years back in time !

This was my mothers doll that she used to play with when she was a child. It is very worn out but wonder if anyone would recognize this and what tribe it may have come from. Thanks Riki Attachments:

my aunt told me some stories of the indian doll that my mother has. She said it originally belonged to my my great grandmother. My aunt said my mother coveted the doll and would not even really play with it. She said when my mom was around 10 they would go to there grandmas house and she would just sit and hold it and stare at it. This jogged a memory of a story my mother told me about when they left from North Dakota. My mother was around 10 yrs old when they moved out her and she said she remembered she cryed herself to sleep every night for months after they moved and never considered Oregon her home. I believe now that the reason why she held the doll and sat there with it was because she dreamed of being home in North Dakota and it brought her good memories and the closeness of home she so craved. I really wish I could learn what tribe the doll belonged to. I have posted the picture does anyone have any idea. It is so badly worn now (obviously my mother ended up playing with it eventually lol) but it must have some characteristics that could be related to a tribe. Help please?
