We have a short page of Chief Red Legs at our main site: www.american-tribes.com/Dakota/bio/RedLegs.htmThere it is said by one member that "Red Legs family descendents are at Good Shepherd (near Little Eagle, SD) on Standing Rock. They are originally descended from those Dakota's who stayed with the Hunkpapa after the 1862 uprising. Most descendents are mostly Hunkpapa today." I got an email which contradicts this statement: I was looking through your website and I do research on my tribe The Santee Sioux Tribe and I ran across your information page on Hushasha, Red Legs. I saw the mentioning of his descendants being at Good Sheppard on Standing Rock but that can't be because my family are his direct descendants and he's buried on our plot here in Santee. Hushasha or Red Legs (MHS) Hushasha or Red Legs, 1867 (SIRIS)

Husasa died at Santee on November 3, 1892. He was 88 years old. He is buried at Our Most Merciful Savior Cemetery. His children took the last name Whipple, and Mary, Baptiste and Garwin all raised familes at Santee. Many of his descendants live there today.

Thanks Vicky. It was indeed someone from the Whipple Family who contacted me.
