Thank you my friend, I found the image at the site you posted I will upload it in higher-scale this evening for a clearer view at the two men. I will also try to find a better version of the group image that includes Lieutenants Wood and Gatewood, and the scout with a corporal's jacket.

Great work! And I agree it may well be the same man... but I am not so sure it is Kayitah... btw, the man in the background also looks familiar...

Kayitah I say INDE look at the feet, I see the buttons on the mocs. I know a INDE Elder of mine on the mescalero rez who makes mocs and she states the button is INDE. A trademark for the INDE, and as for the robes the left person I say buffalo, the one right looks like elk. Of course at my age and the grain of the pic, I may be just guessing

If the caption is true and he is a grandson of Cochise, he probably is by one of Cochise's daughters, Naiche's half-sisters Naithlotonz (Bridget) and Dash-den-zhoos (Susan)

Antonio evidently did not attend Hampton Institute

3. APACHE (8 females, 13 males)

Other than to attend Hamption, I can think of no reason any captive children might be sent to the Fort Monroe vicinity. The caption on the Antonio photograph seems a bit suspicious and needs more research.

It would be difficult but potentially fruitful to check census records for Boston for the time Antonio was said to reside there, with just the name Antonio to go by. I wonder if he has any descendants.

great resolution, thanks grahame! second from left seems to be cassadora, third is pedro, fifth probably miguel and a strong case can be made that the seventh person is petone. i'm undecided on the first person, though, but i tend to passalah.
