That would be wonderful! Thank you. Please don't rush to get it done. I've got plenty to do!

Thank you, Diane. I'll wait a few more days (hoping that some kind soul has saved them on her/his HD) and then will try to contact the archives.

brock,
I had a look through that site, I'd seen it before but had forgotten about it. Some very good images in there, and just out of curiosity, I put in a search for Apaches and found a couple of interesting photos.
Some time back I asked if anybody had any idea how photographs Fly actually took around the time of Geronimo's surrender negotiations. Nobody replied, so I'm assuming that there is no hard and fast evidence out there. However, I noticed that two of the photographs that show Geronimo and his warriors, { there are a few women and children present,} were not the usual two photos one sees in nearly every publication. Unfortunately the print size for these images was tiny, consequently when one blew it up on the screen it was rather fuzzy, but one could still recognize and identify many of those present. { Does anyone know how you can make such a photograph a little bigger with losing the detail?}
Given that there are at least four photographs taken from this same spot, one thing becomes clear. Standing out in front with Geronimo are four men who must have earned the right to be considered worthy of such prominence. Naches is always there either mounted or standing, Fun is also there as is the man dressed mainly in white over whom there was some debate some time back. Lastly there is the man whose name I don't know, the man who wears that very particular headdress he seems to wear in all the photos.
It would be nice to see a high resolution version of the complete collection that Fly took on this occasion so that one examine the detail and see how they differed from each other,
Low Dog

Shan, I know this isn't the best option because free is always best, but you can purchase 300 dpi tiff images which are pretty high res as res goes. I bought from them before and got the actual pix which I purchased for my docs, but it appears you could buy tiffs for $25 each (about mid page). www.nypl.org/permissions/licensingapplication.pdf But the form does seem confusing and I'd call and just say you want the pix for your own personal usage, but high res because you are doing some study. Maybe they can help you get them at a cheaper rate.
