I was just at the National Eagle Center in Wabasha a couple weekends ago. There is a nice film there in an area dedicated to the Dakota. It discusses different Wapasha chiefs and leaders.... and also a woman (I can't recall now if a wife or sister) who moved west but had to come back due to something she'd done, and then keep a low profile. Dang it, I can't recall right now what that was.
I will need to revisit the NEC in March when they have different programs each weekend. Here's overall info: http://nationaleaglecenter.org/soarWithTheEagles.htm
I'm very interested in the first weekend, the "human connection." I have high respect for Chloris Lowe and hope to hear him speak again. http://nationaleaglecenter.org/soar09Human.htm
And I will take better notes on the film. Lovely personal items of the woman are highlighted in a display as the 12-minute film plays. (yea, sure, I can remember the dumb film's length!!! doh, lol)

**************************** Interesting I have ancestors in this blood line have you any information about the connection between Wapasha and the Ojibwas line? I am trying to find out the history behind all this because at one time these two nations were at peace for a long time and intermarried for many years... Some French names such as the Cadotte’s, have families over in the Dakota's. Manongizida/Mashickeeoshe/Loon's-Foot2 was Ojibwa he was Waspasha l 1/2 brother. Pine Shooter was said to be Wapasha l's father I am trying to find out more about these two nations and information regarding when they were at peace with each-other. I have 2 versions of the blood lines on the Ojibwas side as I descend from that part also. Any information would be well appreciated

Members: Mark Diedrich (markdiedrich@charter.net) has written a biography of Wabasha. He self publishes, that is why he doesn't get too much publicity for the 25 books he has written on the Ojibwe, Hocak, and Dakota. Later, Louie
